From the 8th to the 14th July 2012 The Salvation Army will hold its Annual Basketball & Netball Carnival in Eastern Victoria Division.Queensland took a women’s and a Men’s basketball team last year and we are looking to increase our participation again…
This is primarily an evangelistic event, with over 40% of players not attending Church (Around 400-500 people). Every day there is a devotions spot with all games pausing for a ten minute presentation. There is also an opening ceremony with high profile guest speakers from the sporting arena, and a formal awards dinner with entertainment. The gospel is presented in a non-threatening manner and friends are encouraged to dialogue with people around them throughout the week. It is amazing what conversations happen when you are sharing accommodation, eating together, travelling together and playing sport together for an entire week. Costs and further detail will be sent out about three months prior to the carnival. This is an all-age event including U14’s to Senior players.
