The world leader of The Salvation Army, General Andre Cox, and Commissioner Silvia Cox, World President of Women’s Ministries, will lead the official launch of the Australia One project in Adelaide on Saturday 17 September.

Australia One is the unification of the Army’s two Australian territories – Australia Southern and Australia Eastern – announced by the Chief of the Staff, Commissioner Brian Peddle, earlier this year. The unification process officially began on 1 June.

As part of the launch, the General will install Commissioners Floyd and Tracey Tidd as national leaders of The Salvation Army in Australia; Commissioner Floyd Tidd as National Commander and Commissioner Tracey Tidd as National President of Women’s Ministries.

Adelaide Congress Hall will be the venue for the public event, which commences at 2pm. “Adelaide, as the birthplace of The Salvation Army in Australia more than 130 years ago, is the ideal location for this historic occasion,” said Colonel Mark Campbell, Chief Secretary-in-Charge of the Army’s Australia Eastern Territory.

The launch and installation has been timed to coincide with the culmination of the Army’s national 100 Days of Prayer initiative. A National Prayer Summit and national leaders’conference will take place in Adelaide in the week leading up to the Australia One launch. General Cox will address the conference, including emerging young leaders from around the country.

Representative delegates will be formally invited to the launch at Adelaide Congress Hall, however, Salvation Army leadership is emphasising that it is a public event and all Salvationists and friends around Australia are welcome to attend.

The launch, which will be live-streamed at www.salvostudios.com/live, will feature musical support from the Melbourne Staff Band and the Sydney Staff Songsters.

“Through the Australia One project we are looking forward to working together to achieve a clear and consistent mission strategy and mission culture across the whole country, ensuring that all our efforts and resources are being used for the greatest impact,” said Colonel Campbell.

“Critically, as God’s Word says in Ephesians 3:20-21, we are seeking God, not for what we may necessarily have now within the two territories, but what God wants for us in the new. We are blessed in the leadership of Commissioners Tidd as they lead us in fulfilling God’s purpose for the mission of The Salvation Army in Australia.”

  1. My prayer is that The Salvation Army does follow what God wants for us, as He started us with William Booth's vision, and we have traveled so far from that. The one thing that William didn't want us to be was a 'church', he wanted us to be involved with people, do the things we do well, and allow God to work through that. Church was last not first. I love the Army, but believe we have tried too hard to be, and follow other churches, and this has taken us from what should be doing. We have become pew sitters, and have forgotten how to reach out to people. Let's bring the Army back to being alive, and following God's plan. I am praying that God will be first in the progress of this new change, and we will glorify Him in what comes. Thanks and God Bless,

  4. Hi Stephen, thanks for your comment. Pipeline Online is not aware of the cost of flying SSS and MSB to Adelaide for the Australia One launch. God bless.

The Salvation Army Australia could not be in better hands than that of Commissioners Flyod & Tracey Tidd.
Adelaide the ideal place to hold this opening, great to see the General coming, I believe God has great things install for The Salvation Army Australia. May God's Spirit move across our land. Change can be hard for people, but I pray that our hearts be open & touched by God and seek to know His will for our movement in these days.
God Bless The Salvation Army, God bless the General, God bless the Officers & God bless every Soldier & Adherent and those who attend The Salvation Army wherever they shall be.

  6. So wish we could be there! Our nephew's wedding is right at this time. A great time of celebration and excitement. May God be glorified and the work of TSA just explode to even more great things! God Bless You.

  7. It is true that God is doing greater things in the Salvation Army world. Very encouraging and inspiring to see our leaders still attached to the vision and mission of the Army.

Praise God! God is counting on us young people and young leaders of this generation. Do not let this great opportunity pass by.

All for his glory, now and forever more.
