Maxwells appointed Ambassadors for Holiness and Prayer

1 September 2017

Colonels Wayne and Robyn Maxwell have been appointed as National Ambassadors for Holiness and Prayer.

By Simone Worthing

National Commander Commissioner Floyd Tidd, today announced the appointments of Colonels Robyn and Wayne Maxwell to the new positions of National Ambassadors for Holiness and Prayer.

The Maxwells had been serving in the joint role of Assistant Secretary to the National Chief Secretary, Colonel Mark Campbell, since returning to the Australia Eastern Territory in February.

For almost four years prior to their return, Colonel Wayne had been serving as the Territorial Commander and Colonel Robyn as the Territorial President for Women’s Ministries in the Philippines Territory, when the Philippines Government announced it would be enforcing a law restricting the role of expatriates in their country.

Due to serious consequences for people and organisations not adhering to this law, The Salvation Army’s International Headquarters made a decision to reappoint the Maxwells back to Australia and install new national leadership in the Philippines.

The Maxwells’ new appointments are effective from today. They will report directly to the National Commander and are members of the National Cabinet.

As Ambassadors for Holiness and Prayer, the Maxwells are responsible for leading, encouraging and nurturing holiness and prayer throughout Australia. They will work in collaboration with the National Secretary for Spiritual Life in focusing on the holistic life of Salvationists.

They will be engaging Salvationists in seeking a life of holiness and prayer, proclaiming the doctrine of holiness and encouraging the practice of holy living.

In drawing upon our spiritual roots and vibrant history, part of their role will be to raise awareness and share resources to advance the concept of holiness, holy living and prayer.

“The Ambassadors for Holiness and Prayer will be conducting all activities associated with their appointments with a view to accomplishing the Army's fundamental purpose of proclaiming Jesus Christ as Saviour and Lord,” said Commissioner Tidd.

“This purpose must find expression in both the message proclaimed and in the ministry of service performed.

They will be available as appropriate to provide support as it relates to the promotion of programs relating to holiness and prayer.

“We are grateful for the availability of Colonels Wayne and Robyn Maxwell to fulfil these significant appointments for such a time as these foundational days for Australia One. They are grateful for the prayer support that Salvationists across Australia will continue to provide to the emphasis on prayer and holiness.

“Let us remember the Maxwells in prayer as they assume their new appointments.”
