New William Booth biography rolls off press
29 July 2019
Author Gordon Taylor has been rewarded for 10 years of meticulous research, writing, editing and production with the first copies of his two-volume biography of Salvation Army Founder William Booth.
Gordon received the copies ‘hot off the press’ at International Headquarters (IHQ) this week.
IHQ Literary Secretary and Managing Editor Paul Mortlock welcomed Gordon and handed over the newly-produced books, printed by Page Bros in Norwich, to a delighted author.
The major biography, titled William Booth: The Man and His Mission and William Booth: The General and His Army, examines both the life and legacy of one of the most influential Christian leaders and social reformers of the 19th and early 20th centuries.
Gordon is a lifelong Salvationist and a member of Croydon Citadel Corps in south London. He has written numerous articles and was the author of the 1986 A Companion to the Song Book of The Salvation Army. He was a member of staff at The Salvation Army International Heritage Centre between 1988 and 2011, retiring as associate director.
Comprising more than 1000 pages of text and photographs, the book will soon be available through Salvation Army trade departments around the world and as e-books through Amazon and Kobo.
