James Condon: National Prayer Focus ‘Salvos Field Guide’ Day 3.

By Commissioner James Condon, Communications Consultant (External Executive Relations), Queensland Division

Day 3 – National Prayer Focus 2022

My wife Jan and I were stationed as corps officers at Auburn in Sydney and during our time there I was greatly challenged following my reading of Colossians chapter 1 in my daily devotions one day.

I was particularly drawn to verse 18 – “that in everything He might have pre-eminence”.

As I look back over half a century of service to God through The Salvation Army, I reflect on the challenge to keep Jesus at the centre of it all.

It is so easy to get sidetracked by issues: be it with The Salvation Army, local community, politics, people or even problems around the world. So many things take us away from Jesus being the centre of it all.

May I suggest a daily prayer – “Jesus be at the centre of it all today.”

Reflection questions

• How do I handle side-tracks in my life and ministry?
• What will my life and service look like if Jesus really is the centre of it all?
