QPAS (Queensland Performing Arts School)

In 2012 QPAS is being held at Alexandra Park Conference Centre between the 1st and 7th of July. This week long camp is aimed at identifying and developing gifts and abilities in our youth, particularly in the area of Creative Arts. This week is also well understood as a great opportunity for young people to step up into leadership and receive teaching, and experience in ministry to their peers and indeed other leaders.
The age range is from 12 – 25 years and we want to emphasise that there is no requirement for young people to be a uniformed Salvationist. If there are young people attached to the corps that show some musical or creative potential, we would be glad to help them discover how this can be a means of connecting with their creator!
The cost will increase marginally this year to $330, however this still represents a significant financial contribution by both DHQ and THQ. The camp is also starting on Sunday afternoon. This is a cost saving measure, but the advantage is that we are giving opportunity for the youth to minister the additional Sunday morning before coming to camp.
There is also another change that will affect the camp significantly, for God’s glory. We have secured the Piazza at South Bank inBrisbaneas the new venue for the camp concert. This will be part of a wider Divisional Outreach Day, which will be more widely publicised in the coming weeks. This facility will allow the youth to engage in outreach activities throughout the afternoon and personally invite people to the concert in which they will participate. There is much more to come with this, so stay tuned!
