Living as holy people in a post-Christian age
What does holy living look like in an age in which Christianity is either treated as a quaint relic of the past, or, in some instances as a form of worrisome extremism?
How can we talk about, and embody, holiness in a cultural context that no longer is moved by (or has moved beyond) the concept of sin or is no longer concerned with addressing it? Does the notion of purity have any relevance whatsoever in post-Christian discourse? How, if at all, does it relate to holy living?
After laying out the nature of biblical holiness, this lecture explores the call to be God's holy people within the cultural mileu of Western liberal democracies. The lecture suggests some different ways of thinking about purity and holiness in ways that may help Christians embody the loving holiness of God in this alien culture.
