Footsteps of St Paul 2016 - Call for Expressions of Interest
Footsteps of St Paul 2016 - Call for Expressions of Interest
Date: 1st May 2016
Here is a pilgrimage opportunity which can breathe new life into the way you read and understand letters and events recorded in the New Testament. You will visit the Greek towns of Paul’s second missionary journey and the sites of 6 of the 7 churches written to in Revelation 2 & 3. You will stand and walk where pioneers of our faith took the message of Jesus.
In recent years there have been 6 such tours for Officers of this territory. In 2016 we are again offering an opportunity for soldiers and Christian friends to participate in this pilgrimage. An extra with special meaning for Aussies is a full half day at Gallipoli. We are also privileged to meet the pioneering Army officers in Athens and Thessaloniki and hear what God is doing there today.
The usual travel period is late May / early June just ahead of the summer holiday crowds. A reasonable level of fitness is required. The tour duration is 16 days, plus travel time between Australia and Athens. You can expect the cost to be around $7000 per person twin share, depending on exchange rate fluctuations. (A single supplement could add close to a further $1,000.) This amount includes flights from Australia and return, tour coach travel with an experienced local guide, entry to historical sights, good quality hotels, breakfast and evening meals, the Christian fellowship of the group.
For the tour to be viable, there is a minimum number of participants required. If you are interested please respond by emal to Major Cecil Woodward by Monday August 3, 2015. Your expression of interest implies no obligation or commitment on your part, but can start the process for you to consider your options in more detail and for us to check out the potential for such a pilgrimage in 2016.
