International Staff Songsters to tour Australia
29 September 2016
The International Staff Songsters of The Salvation Army will tour Australia and New Zealand in April next year. The group has scheduled three concerts in the Army's Australia Eastern Territory, in Brisbane (5 April), Sydney (10 April) and Canberra (11 April).
The mission of the International Staff Songsters is to give a clear expression of the gospel of Jesus Christ through music and to communicate his love and power to transform lives and communities, in a vital and attractive way. The style of the songsters spans a large range of Christian music, from contemporary to classical, spirituals to traditional songs.
"The International Staff Songsters present an opportunity to directly connect with the choral community, including school and community choirs through master classes, the concert itself, or simply opening the conversation with singing groups in the local area,” said Chris Brindley from the Eastern Territory's Mission Support Team – WorshipArts.
“It is a reason to develop a relationship beyond our own corps. By being deliberate about becoming an integral part of the singing community, from the choir of hard knocks to acapella ensembles, we can use our own skills to not only engage with people, but also improve our own skills in communicating the gospel through this artform."
