As CEO, Sharon has been the driving force behind Aged Care Plus’ transformation, commitment to the mission and support of a number of social justice partnerships to assist people in need internationally.
In the past 10 years, Sharon’s brainchild, the annual Aged Care Plus Walkathon, has raised in excess of $600,000 for vulnerable communities, both locally and overseas. In addition to this, the Hope and a Future program introduced in 2014 has seen 24 young people from Papua New Guinea being provided the opportunity to undertake leadership development and participate in a life-changing experience, the Gold Coast Airport Marathon.
Under Sharon’s leadership, Aged Care Plus has achieved a significant financial turnaround, moving from an operational deficit to a strong surplus that is returned to the broader Salvation Army, while always upholding and promoting The Salvation Army mission.
Sharon has led the organisation to be a recognised industry leader, winning many prestigious awards. Her commitment to the development of staff is widely recognised as evidenced by the 115 Salvation Army employees who have benefitted from the Fellows Program, an initiative Sharon introduced in 2011.
Sharon leaves The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus in a strong position, which is a true testament to her innovative, courageous and servant leadership.
On behalf of The Salvation Army and your team, I thank you Sharon for all you have done for the people entrusted to our care. You leave a legacy from which residents, staff and the broader Salvation Army benefit. We wish you well for your future.
