New mobile app offers 'fitness for your spirit'
14 March 2017
Described as a “fitness app for your spirit”, The Whole World Mobilising App was launched today.
Available from the App Store and Google Play for Apple and Android devices, it encourages every Salvationist, officer, employee, advisory board member, youth group, friend and volunteer to connect in conversation with others across the globe, sharing their passion for sharing the gospel.
Participants have already been sharing details of their own mobilisation activities, using the “Reach” section for new ideas on how to engage people in meaningful conversation about faith, learning from each other and coming together in prayer for each other through the website.
The Whole World Mobilising app works in much the same way as the Mobilising website, providing real-time updates on mission activities, practical coaching, devotional readings (including Words of Life content each day throughout 2017) and community and global prayer.
Encouraged by the launch of the new tool, General André Cox says: “The only way The Salvation Army can be a force for good, a force for change and a force for positive transformation in the world is for us to be true to our integrated mission. The world needs us more than ever to preach the gospel of Jesus Christ and to meet human need in his name without discrimination.
“We cannot fulfil that mission by hiding away in our halls and places of worship. Sin, injustice and exclusion are increasingly evident all around us. We were not designed to be a peacetime Army. Our name, uniforms and beliefs only make sense when we are mobilised into action. Here is a great way for you to be involved!”
The app is free to download and is built for light data use, making it accessible all around the world. To download it, search for ‘The Whole World Mobilising’ on the App Store or Google Play from your smartphone, or visit sar.my/twwmandroid (for Android devices) or sar.my/twwmios (for Apple devices).
This version of the app is in its early stages and will rely on feedback from participants for improvements. Participants are encouraged to contact the support team by emailing The Whole World Mobilising team at twwmhelp@salvationarmy.org should any problems occur.
Ester Ellen Nelson, is the Whole World Mobilising Project Manager, based at International Headquarters, in London.
