John Marion – Australia Southern Territory Youth Ministry Development Coordinator
I work with teenagers and I’ve come to understand that life can be really tough for them.
They’re facing pressures at school, a busy world, poverty, and abuse. When I look back at 2017, what inspires me is how they can follow the example of Jesus, despite their own circumstances and backgrounds.
One young person noticed that a friend was having a tough time, and took him to the movies, paying for his ticket. Another young person saw that a friend was struggling with depression and suicidal thoughts and reached out to let them know that they weren’t alone.
One young person took a stand for human rights and raised awareness about family violence. 
I was privileged to travel to Central Australia with a group of young people to serve remote indigenous communities and saw how they took on the challenge with courage and grace.
The young people I work with are facing extraordinary pressures.
They also come from a variety of different backgrounds with different advantages and disadvantages, but I am inspired when I see how they can follow the example of Jesus. Life is tough for teenagers, but with Jesus, they can change the world.
