New Salvos/Kidzone magazine an ideal outreach tool
16 April 2020
During this unusual and very busy time for everyone, the editorial department has published a flip magazine – Salvos/Kidzone – that we hope will prove to be both a message of hope and a useful outreach tool during the coming weeks.
Salvos/Kidzone magazine will be available at local corps from this weekend for Salvationists to share with family, friends, neighbours and in their local areas.
This printed magazine is ideal, and intended, for including with emergency hampers or care packs that are delivered to the vulnerable and others in different communities and through additional points of outreach, such as Doorways and SalConnect.
The magazine can also be read online or downloaded from the My Salvos Toolkit. The Kidzone section is available here.
Salvos/Kidzone magazine is dated April 2020 and has been printed in A5 size for easy distribution. Depending on which way you open this resource, Salvos Magazine begins on one side, and, when you flip it over, Kidzone is on the other.
The magazine is focused on the Christian message of love, kindness, encouragement and practical help.
The Salvos Magazine section includes a letter of hope from Commissioners Janine and Robert Donaldson, leaders of The Salvation Army in Australia; Auxiliary-Captain Dr Catherine Philpot writes about finding strength in times of crisis; and Major Lyn Edge, Secretary for Mission, explains how the Salvos are helping during the COVID-19 pandemic.
There are also contact details for people seeking Salvation Army and government assistance, and information on how to access Salvos churches online. We’ve also squeezed in a quiz and puzzle and even hidden Tum Tum.
As The Salvation Army’s publications in Australia increase their digital presence in the wake of a temporary print suspension, we are also making additional resources available for people to use in their community outreach.
On the others.org.au site, readers can also now click on the ‘Stories to Share’ icon on the top left-hand side of the landing page and be taken to a range of outward-focused stories that would usually appear in Warcry.
These stories can be shared electronically with friends, family and people in your community through social media by clicking on the Facebook or Twitter icons at the end of the story.
Stories can also be printed by clicking on the print icon at the end of the story.
Kidzone magazine is also adding additional resources and features to its website. For information and resources for kids, go to kidzonemag.com.au
