Streetlevel Mission Team Leader Paul Maunder can’t wait to hit the fairways for the mission’s inaugural corporate golf day next week.

Brisbane Streetlevel Mission is taking a swing at a corporate golf day next week.

Mission Team Leader and keen golfer Paul Maunder said the inaugural Corporate Nine Golf Day is set to be held at Wynnum Golf Club on Monday 15 November, from 1.30pm.

The day will take the form of a four-person Ambrose* event over nine holes, with the field limited to 48 players. “First come, first served,” Paul said.

An Ambrose event is a popular format for charity golf days as it allows golfers of all standards to mix and play together irrespective of ability. “It also helps with teamwork as only one score is carded per hole and generally minimises the time looking for any lost balls,” Paul said.

Packages will be offered to sponsors, including signs on various holes, product giveaways, and promotional staff on the course. Prizes will be given for the top three-placed teams, the longest drive and nearest the pin. “[But] there is no car as a prize for the player who sinks a hole-in-one,” Paul quipped.

He said the proceeds would help Streetlevel continue its mission of “providing hope, shelter, food, and a safe and caring environment for the homeless and vulnerable in the community”.

* In an Ambrose event, each player tees off, and the best shot is selected each time, and all four players pick up their balls and place them within one handspan alongside the best ball. Each person then hits their second from the same spot and repeat that for the remainder of each hole – including putting on the greens. Each player selects their own club for each shot.
