Digital lends itself to information, while analog lends itself to transformation. How does a church navigate an era defined by digitisation?
In his book, Analog Church: Why We Need Real People, Places and Things in the Digital Age, Jay Y Kim – a pastor from California’s Silicon Valley, challenges readers with the notion that the red-hot pursuit of relevance can cost us the true analog incarnation of worship, community and Scripture. As we all have recently journeyed into digital rooms rather than real people, real places and things, there was no better time to receive a copy of this book.
Every era in history has shaped the Church, and the increasingly digital age we live in is no different. Through the lens of his experience as the pastor of teaching and leadership at Vintage Faith Church in Santa Cruz, Kim addresses the duality of being an analog church (a true community) in a digital age that breeds speed, choices and individualism.
This book is highly recommended reading for anyone leading or part of a faith community, while we navigate life after COVID-19.
Analog Church is available at Koorong.
