How do we fully embrace ‘this one life’ given to us?
This is the question asked by author Sharon Witt in this engaging and personal book. The underpinning response throughout is clear: grab it with both hands, with passion and determination. Carpe diem, as many have said; seize the day, and live this one life on purpose.
Sharon’s intended audience is women, “whether you are 19 or 99” (male readers would undoubtedly benefit equally from the principles expressed, though some of her anecdotes are distinctly feminine in nature). She exudes empathy for her readers, sharing her own journey’s high, low, and imperfect moments with equal humour and at times brutal honesty. Her collection of “conversations on the journey of life” is unashamedly challenging as it cycles through an array of practical topics, frequently returning to the central call for intentional living.
Building on this foundation of “life on purpose”, Sharon explores ways to live courageously, take risks and embrace personal growth. There is clear emphasis on application by setting visions and goals. She also stresses the importance of sharing life with those around us. Practical strategies for encouraging others are regularly highlighted: build positive relationships, embrace honesty and forgiveness, practice generosity and gratitude.
These many aspects of the central theme are presented in bite-sized chapters for busy women. Even the longest sections are only a few pages and each is followed by space for notes and reflection, in a format that lends itself easily to daily or weekly journaling. Creativity is also evident in artwork, graphic design and typography which enhances the personalised feel of the book.
This One Life offers readers a space to reflect, fresh encouragement for their journey and a spark to reignite a passion to reimagine and live their best life.
