Book Review: Twenty Talks series by Shaw Clifton

A former General of The Salvation Army, Shaw Clifton, has penned four hard-hitting devotional studies called Twenty Talks.

Reviewed by Garth R. Hentzschel

The Twenty Talks series of books are hard-hitting studies for Christians who want to challenge and grow their faith.

Tired of weak devotional studies that are more aligned to the self-help genre than biblical truths? Then the Twenty Talks series is for you!

While the series of four books can be used in personal devotions, they are structured as study aids for small groups, and this mode will give readers the greatest benefit. The series is cross-referenced, linked with The Song Book of The Salvation Army and other sources that, when engaged, will broaden the understanding of the reader.

Each book contains 20 themed ‘talks’ focused on different areas of the Bible: the Old Testament, the Psalms, the Gospels, and Romans. Scripture readings, a devotional conversation, and two discussion questions help structure each ‘talk’. The ‘talks’ show the retired General’s analytical mind as they are compelling and straight to the point. Clearly written for the thinking Christian,Twenty Talks will challenge and grow your Christian faith.

The four books in the Twenty Talks series are available from Salvationist Publishing and Supplies, UK at Salvationist Publishing (sps-shop.com)
