Book Review: Undistracted by Bob Goff
Book Review: Undistracted by Bob Goff

I picked up Undistracted by Bob Goff because I enjoyed his earlier book Dream Big. I like Bob’s down-to-earth storytelling style, even though the stories are often not particularly down-to-earth.
He talks of how he hangs around backstage at famous concerts, of crazy encounters with stalkers, of building schools in Africa and even a story about launching a balloon into space from Uganda and causing a diplomatic incident with a neighbouring country.
Because of his laid-back style, I had expected Undistracted to be a fairly simple book with a message along the lines of “put down your phone and pick up your Bible”. However, Goff is also a lawyer and underneath the laid-back humour is a keenly observant mind.
His observations of himself and others help him unpack many different and unexpected ways in which we get distracted from the primary callings and purposes of our lives. In addition to the distractions of social media etc, Goff shows how we are distracted by failures, conflict, self-doubt and many other aspects of life.
I encourage anyone who feels a little uncertain or lost to read through Undistracted. It has helped me see how hidden distractions have drawn me off-track at times. Reading this book helped me rediscover clarity, alignment and purpose.
Undistracted is available at Christian bookstores and online.
