Corps Christmas Day Offering 2022 Project
This year’s Christmas Day offering in corps around Australia will go towards a Salvation Army International Development (SAID) project in Tanzania. The project involves drilling four borehole wells for a village in the East African nation, one of the world’s poorest countries. Borehole wells make it easier to collect water. Many villagers, especially women, sometimes walk for kilometres to the nearest source just to collect enough water to drink and wash for their families. But this water is often contaminated, leading to sickness. A borehole eliminates this problem, and when a well is drilled near the villagers’ homes, life becomes easier for everyone. The appeal will also give the Australia Territory’s SAID department the opportunity to provide resources down the track to build two church halls and officers’ quarters in four locations in Tanzania.
