Aged Care Plus to develop new residential aged care centres
Aged Care Plus to develop new residential aged care centres
29 June 2017
The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus has announced plans to develop four new state-of-the-art residential aged care centres in Queensland and NSW.
The proposed 80-bed centres – to be built in Jimboomba, Ipswich and the Hills District (Qld) and Taree (NSW) – will provide all aged-care services, including specialist dementia, mental health, spiritual, respite and palliative care.
Chief Executive Officer for Aged Care Plus, Sharon Callister, says the organisation is excited to expand its industry-leading aged-care services.
“Aged Care Plus is committed to caring for older Australians, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to expand our loving care to those who need it the most,” Sharon says.
The new residential aged-care centres will be a place to call home for older Australians, including vibrant living spaces and homely environments. It is anticipated the centres will open their doors in 2020.
“As the ageing population continues to grow, it is now more important than ever we expand our services to meet the needs of these communities,” Sharon says.
Aged Care Plus’ announcement comes after its successful application for the 80 licences through the Aged Care Approvals Round (ACAR). ACAR is the Federal Government’s investment into ageing in Australia. The government is providing an additional $649 million per year to create 9911 new residential aged care places in the 2016-17 ACAR.
The Federal Minister for Aged Care, Ken Wyatt, says this investment provides greater choice for older Australians.
“Australians want greater choice and control over their care and this investment does exactly that,” he says. “With our rapidly ageing population, the Australian Government is committed to providing a sustainable aged care system that meets the needs of our older Australians.”
Aged Care Plus is an industry leader in the provision of physical, emotional and spiritual care and this development forms part of Aged Care Plus’ multimillion-dollar commitment to support ageing in Australia.
Inner West community learn how to downsize their home, and upgrade their lifestyle
In another exciting development for Aged Care Plus, members of Sydney’s Inner West community joined international property guru and TV host of the Lifestyle Channel’s Selling Houses Australia, Andrew Winter, at an exclusive property event on downsizing.
Held in partnership with the development of The Salvation Army Aged Care Plus’ state-of-the-art Macquarie Lodge Retirement Village in Arncliffe, NSW, the event shared practical tips and advice with potential home sellers on how to maximise the sale value of their home, gain insight into what their house might be worth, and shared up-to-date information on the St George and Inner West property market.
Andrew Winter facilitated the event, and said the best time to downsize to retirement living is now.
The session also shared information on available options for those wanting to downsize, with updates on the development of the brand new Macquarie Lodge Retirement Village in Arncliffe.
Opening in September 2017, the new retirement village will offer retirees exciting living spaces with the choice of a range of living options including one and two bedroom apartments.
Chief Executive Officer for Aged Care Plus, Sharon Callister, says the new development will provide a homely community for retired Australians.
Aged Care Plus is an industry leader in the provision of aged care services, caring for and serving more than 1700 Australians annually.
