Wollongong celebrates another year of conversation
19 December 2018
Almost 60 adults, children and volunteers from Wollongong Corps’ English Conversation Class shared meals from a dozen countries at an end-of-year celebration on 12 December.
The class participants include refugees, new arrivals and overseas students attending the University of Wollongong. Wollongong Corps has been providing the classes with a dozen volunteers at the Wollongong and Warrawong libraries for the past two years.
Each participant provided meals from their country at the celebration. They were presented with a certificate acknowledging their involvement during 2019 classes, as well as a bag of gifts.
The classes continue to attract new participants, including two Chinese women who attended for the first time during the end-of-year celebration.
